Carlos was elected to serve on November 6, 2018, as the Juvenile District Court Judge for the 289th Judicial District. Carlos served as a former Felony & Special Prosecutor and former School Board Member for Harlandale ISD. When he is not working, Carlos enjoys spending time with his wife Meagan and daughter Sophia.
While serving in the 289th Juvenile District Court, Carlos worked to establish two specialty courts. The MIND, or Men In Need of Direction court is geared for young men ranging in ages from 10 years to 16 years who receive direction to address their charges which led to their detention but also receive assistance to change their mindset and establish life goals.
The JUNTOS, or Juveniles United Navigating Through Obstacles Successfully, launched in August in 2019 and is open to boys and girls at least 15 years old. This program is aimed at youths involved in gang activity who want to change their lives.
Carlos and his work in the 289th District Court is changing the face of Bexar County Juvenile Courts. Carlos is taking his knowledge and resources out into the community to educate families of the potential outcomes of choices a youth makes at a young age and to let them k now about resources readily available. When families are in need and distressed, the entire household is affected, including our children.
